It seems that that Richard Morgan rant has leapt back into life. Of particular note, nihilistic-kid points of that "Why can't we just be like Crime?" might not be the panacea Morgan hopes. Richard Morgan is mad as hell and he isn't going to take this any more. There is presumably meant to be a point in here somewhere but I'm not sure what it is.

It is interesting that Simon Spanton is publicising this rant to blogs though. When is The Steel Remains out again?

Possibly crushed under the weight of expectations; this is good but not that good. A portrait of a deeply unpleasant man that comes into its own when he is unable to rationalise and intellectualise the aftermath of his daughter's rape.

A while ago megmccarron reviewed Woken Furies by Richard Morgan over at The Mumpsimus. Woken Furies is one of two paperback releases for Morgan this year. My reception of Richard Morgan's debut Altered Carbon was adversely effected by the ludicrous level of hype that surrounded its publication. Given that he was being pushed as the next big thing I was rather surprised that the book was in fact a quite good cyberpunk novel of the sort no-one but Jon Courtney Grimwood had written in the last decade.
